Former Band Director, Len Walker, to be guest conductor

Mr. Walker has agreed to be the guest conductor for Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" at the December 11 concert at the school. For the sixth year, alumni, parents, teachers, and friends of CV music are invited to sit in with the Wind Ensemble to perform this seasonal classic.

This year, in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary celebrations, Mr. Walker is coming out of retirement to lead this annual favorite. Part of the fun of the past five performances of "Sleigh Ride" is that the "come as you are" performance has brought clarinets out of the closet, and trombones from parents' attics from 10, 15, even 20 years ago!

Current Band Director, Mr. Viar, said that he can get music to anyone interested, and reminds alumni and friends that the spirit of coming back to play should outweigh the fact that many people haven't played for a long time. It's OK! Come as you are, and find that saxophone!

CVHS 50th Anniversary | Event Recap and Final Thank You

As we conclude the fall portion of Clayton Valley’s 50^th Anniversary Celebration, I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your work over the past year. Your endless time, efforts, and contributions to Clayton Valley has culminated in jam-packed weekend that was attend by hundreds of Eagles and community members. We have partnered with current students during their homecoming week, documented the Eagle legacy, published a 50^th edition of the Talon, honored the original football team, launched the inaugural Hall of Fame, brought together alumni in a rousing football game, transformed the Quad into memory lane, and hosted a special exhibit showcasing 50 years of Clayton Valley history. No small feat indeed!

Below is a summary of press articles and public feedback we have received on the 50^th Anniversary. I would encourage you to read the comments as they reflect the opinions of our attendees and mark the impact that we have made. In talking with many attendees myself, I know that the overall impression of the weekend was positive and alumni enjoyed returning to campus.

Michele, Lori, and I will continue the efforts as we now turn to planning the Spring Event. If anyone would still like to remain involved (you’ve already done so much), please let me know. Our first meeting is Thursday, November 13^th at 7pm in the CV Library.

Again, it has been a honor working with you all these past months. Your passion for Clayton Valley is encouraging; thank you for all that you do for our school.
